Proexec supports the Lelala Project.
Proexec Security Network is very proud to have been part of this inspiring project! We supplied the security for the event for free and will do so again whenever needed. Well done to everyone that was involved. Below is more information copied from the Coats for Cape Town's Facebook page.
“A free coat? No one has nog nooit ever given me a coat” Judy, 69, a resident of Hout Bay and one of the first customers to arrive at “The Street Store #228".
The sun had barely risen on Saturday morning as a group of Lalela students started sweeping the sidewalks and erecting 'Lalela’/ 'Coats for Cape Town' “The Street Store” posters on the railings outside the Hout Bay Library.
This was the start of the “Lalela" and “Coats for Cape Town" collaboration on the 13th June for 'The Street Store #228'. When they heard about what we were planning, a group of our senior Lalela students willingly volunteered to be servers and assistants in the Street Store in a unique give-back to those far less fortunate than themselves.
They had in the preceding days literally walked the length and breadth of the two Hout Bay communities of Hangberg and Imizamo Yethu spreading the word - and spreading the word even further. By the time the magnificent “Coats for Cape Town” donation of 1200 coats arrived at 'The Street Store #228', anticipation was running high - the renown word-of-mouth of the local Hout Bay communities was already working overtime with numerous ‘customers’, including Judy above, excitedly lining up before we’d even finished setting-up our pop-up store.
At 09h00 when we opened for business any fears of not having sufficient interest from ‘in-need’ local residents (or too much stock) were soon dispelled. The Street Store concept of “Hang Up. Help Out” was instantly put to very good practice with everyone eagerly participating non-stop until midday - and the stock flew 'off the railings’, with way more than 1000 persons flocking to our store, in the process winter has been made a little more bearable for them.
In the words of Lalela 'loudhailer and crowd-controller', Wandisile “yo i will never forget this day"
Thank you to all involved, especially the "Hout Bay Library”, "SAPS Hout Bay” & "Proexec Security Network", as well as all the pop-up store assistants who tirelessly made it possible on the day for the NGO collaboration of “Lalela" and "Coats for Cape Town” to be able to successfully stage this event.
